Carnet for Senegal
With a car less than 5 years old, do you need a carnet for travelling through Senegal?
I am confused - can anyone enlighten me please! |
According to Senegalese embassy - no Carnet needed.

Thanks Andy

How about a car over 5 years old? Is it worth paying for a Carnet or am I still going to get hassled into paying a bung to get through Rosso?
|
Without a Carnet however much you offer - you will not get into Senegal I am told. Andy |
Hi . Well ,.it deppends on your bargaining abilitties. Its definitely possible crossing Diama (100kms west of Rosso) into Senegal by paying an ammount beetween 50 to 150 Euros.
My last 3 times were : 70Euros for 1 Land Rover 109 50-60 Euros for 1 Honda XL600 70 Euros for 1 Defender 90 everybody does it . Everybode knows it and they do expect you to pay . Good luck Javier |
Thanks Javier
That's what we're hoping to do.Any indication of where/how far before Rosso the turning is to the dam? |
Hi,
Just got my Carnet from the RAC - well paid for it. Cost me £165 plus £17.50 for a £4500 bank guarntee. That is very cheap, We are travelling to Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and Gambia. I will be driving back also. So the cost is very cheap in reality. Yours Andy P.S. I am looking forward to a beer in Churchills |
