Congo – RDC Congo
- From Ekok (Gabon) there is a small piste of 140 km going to Lekana (immediately after last check point turn south), deep, deep sand, many hills to cross, doable in a 4 WD, very challenging on a loaded bike, no trafic, first village after 100 km, then better piste
- Congo entry formalities in Lekana, the most corrupt officers I ever met in Africa - Lekana to Ngo: potholed tar - Ngo to Brazzaville: good tar - Ferry to Kinshasa: I bought my tickets the day before boarding, less hassle A few “taxes” are to be paid on departure (I always got a receipt, total +/- 20 Euros) Transfer takes 45 minutes Very friendly reception on Kinshasa side, an uniformed policemen took my passport and carnet and helped me through the offices Scam: Some people in white dresses wanted to “disinfect” my bike, I sent them away and left without a problem Have a safe trip Albert |
Alright Albert, thanks for the update and good to hear you’re still on the move. Can’t believe how fast you’re travelling!! does that 640 have wings???
Have a safe one :thumbup1: Rob |
Indeed, quite a pace.
Thanks for the info, Albert. It sounds like the immigration process at the Kinshasa ferry landing has become little less stressful? I've heard some horror stories in the past (especially from people who didn't have an Angolan visa yet). Safe travels through Angola, take care, Julian |
Albert,
Thanks a lot for the info!! It's really appreciated!! But still one question remains: On what visa will you enter Angola and where did you get it? We're way behind you, planning to be in Cameroon in a week and are very interested about your route. Cheers, Daniel |
I got my visa in Brussels before leaving. But nobody seemed to be interested in my Angola visa in Kinshasa
have a safe trip Albert |
