DRC - invitation letter
While trying to get an Angolan visa, we are now busy getting our DRC visa.
It seems that we (2 Dutch) can get one if we can provide the embassy witn an invitation letter which is legalised by the DRC immigration. Does anyone know how to get such invitation letter? I contacted various persons and hotels in DRC, but did not get an answer so far. |
Got the DR Kongo Visa yesterday in my homecountry (switzerland).
No inviton was required, we had - carnet de passage (bring a copy) - yellow fever stamp (bring a copy) - Printout Banking Account (bring a copy) - Passport - foto - visa form You have to explain your trip - that you drive there by own car... Regards, Surfy |
Thanks a lot, we are going to try our luck!

Letter of invitation!
If you trying to get Angola visa if Africa! don't waste your time! Send your passports to your home country,TNT curier is cheaper than DHL. I was stuck in Brazaville for 81Days trying to get Angola and DRC visas. |
I'll try my luck, if they provide the Angolan visa, then it will work at the border, I guess...

No LOI required from our homecountry, Sweden. Just a letter describing the route etc.

To answer my own question:
we arranged a notarized invitation letter for DRC via Go Congo Tours (a very helpful Belgian man called Michel) in Kinshasa. This costed USD 120 for 1 person, including immigration approval - this apparently means that you get all kind of signatures and stamps of people high in hierarchy, which should make your entry/stay in DRC much easier. They also provided an "itinery" for me (including my "hotel reservation", etc.). With this invitation letter, we easily got our DRC visa (8 days (2x), "aller et au retour", within 3 months after issuing you should enter the country) in Lusaka. Now it's just hoping that border officials will not give us a hard time because it wasn't issued back home. Maybe the stamps on the invitation letter also help in this respect. |
