East Africa Tourist Visa
Since the 1st January 2014 (or slightly thereafter), you can get a single multi-entry tourist visa for 90 days that covers Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. I got mine at the Kenyan High Commission in Dar Es Salaam for 165,000 TZS = 100 USD.
Take along your passport, a passport photo and a letter describing why you are looking for this visa and your done within an hour. For my route Tanzania -> Kenya -> Ethopia -> Kenya -> Uganda -> Rwanda it should save me a few shekels compared to getting a visa at the border. |
That's good info, thanks for that as we're headed that way!

Hi,
Thanks for the info! Very useful! Cheers from Kamanjab, Namibia, Gee |
Yes, great news, although its a bit annoying that Tanzania decided not to join in with the scheme but you can't have everything
|
We got the same at Dar's High Comission minus the letter, was not necessary.
We did speak to other overlanders last week who asked for the EAC visum in Addis Abeba but the Kenyan embassy there knew about it but was unable to issue it. |
I can confirm that the Kenyan embassy in Addis is not issuing the East African Visa. However, some of my friends received it at Moyale border.
I received mine at Malaba (border between Kenya / Uganda). It is not official to get it at the border but it looks like its possible if you set up your nicest smile. |
