Ethiopia to Kenya, via Lake Turkana - Anyone keen to join?
Hi, Thanks guys for the useful write ups on the route, great insights. We are really keen to take this route (North to South) and we're wondering if there were any 4x4s willing to join us on this section in June sometime?

Hi
The HUBB has been an absolute goldmine of useful info so far; thanks everyone for all your posts! I'm travelling solo UK to SA, currently in Wadi Halfa but hoping to reach Ethiopia early next week (unloaded car yesterday). I've been debating going the Lake Turkana route with a few other overlanders I've met along the way. I'd love to try it but feel a bit nervous tackling it alone. I've got a friend who wants to fly out for three weeks to Addis in early June, and if the dates fit it would be amazing to hook up with you guys to drive Turkana, and drop my friend off in Nairobi in time to catch her connecting flight. When are you think of going? I've already done some travelling around Ethiopia, so I'm happy to cut it short this trip if it means getting to drive Lake Turkana with someone else. Cheers Ben |
Hi Guys, we just arrived in Addis yesturday and will be here for the next week. Any other overlanders heading south soon who want to join and do the Turkana route?

Hi all,
We wrote down all the usefull info for the Lake Turkana trip we did last year! Kenya See you on the road! Eef and Dries http://www.facebook.Com/waarisworteltje |
It is important to check in at Ileret police station (the first small settlement in Kenya) and get them to record your arrival in Kenya in their incident book. If you have problems en route to Nairobi because you haven't got a visa, cleared customs and immigration, the police can then check with the Officer in Command at Ileret as to when you actually entered Kenya.
Don't forget to go to immigration and customs in Nairobi on arrival. |
What is the best (fastest) route from Addis to Ileret?
