Ferry between Tanzania and Pemba
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone had some uptodate info about the ferry between Tanzania and Pemba? As I've a travelguide, but that info is from 2009... We were also wondering if we could take our car with us. Thanks a lot! Eef and Dries Follow our adventures on: Home http://www.facebook.com/waarisworteltje |
Hi Eef and Dries,
Interesting question - but I am sure it will attract more attention in the sub-Saharan Africa thread. Good luck and safe travels, Achim |
Yes put in wrong forum.
Is there a way I can move it or not possible? Eef |
We took the Dar/Zanzibar ferry last month - very modern and fast ships. At the booking office ('Kilimanjaro') in the harbor I could also book onwards to Pemba. It's a 2 hour ride to Zanzibar, and 70 mins onwards to Pemba.
Do not talk to any of the touts running around outside, just go into the main office. AFAIK it is not possible to ship your vehicle - apparently this ship has a very intermittent and unpredictable schedule. We tried shipping ours but got nowhere. Tanga-Pemba looks like it's been suspended but you never know in Africa... |
Thanks so much!
May I ask how much you paid for the ferry? |
Ferry Dar-Zanzibar was $35 one-way.
