Fuel range East Africa
 

Could someone please give me advice regarding fuel range in East Africa.
Would 250 miles be enough or do I need more? I know the East is more developed and easier than the West coast route. I just don't want to weigh
down the bike with too much fuel.

If you plan your trip according to it you can do it without problems. The longest stretch is from Wadi Halfa to Dongola (400 km) but you can normally buy overpriced petrol in one of the villages.

Edit:You might loose a few interesting places.

As Alibaba has mentioned, the longest sections are very manageable from Cario to Cape Town. One thing to note is that your fuel consumption will increase substantially when riding on rough roads and sand. Plan accordingly, and if you want a spare canister for fuel, bring one from home. You may not believe it, but it is very hard to find a quality plastic fuel canisters over there that won't leak. I carried a small cannister too far and too long but it was very useful on occasion and when I required more litres I just bought some pop/water bottles and strapped them on the back.

Agreed. However as Ali said you will have to miss out on some very worth while places. Also, remember that there will be times when you get to a place that usually has petrol, but is waiting for delivery- which can take a long long time...
If you choose to go via Lake Turkana (I recommend this highly) then I think the longest stretch is about 600km without fuel. I carried a locally bought cheap plastic 10L container only in Turkana where it was essential. I did have about a 520km range on my tank though.
