Gabon/congo/DRC/angola???????
Hi there,
I have been reading a few postings regarding the route down to Namibia from cameroon. I was wondering if anyone had any more information on this route especially the condition of the roads and is it possible to drive all the way (or do you need to use a ferry) if so would the ferry take large vehicles. any help and information would be appreciated, perhaps websites of people that have travvelled this way. thanks Bo |
http://www.expeditionoverland.com/ these guys have just gone through. There are plenty of photos and the diary is pretty good.

The Camelworld guys had quite an adventure in Kinshasa. Not sure this is the place to go (though this could of course happen in any city anywhere in the world). Anyways...I hope I will never come that close to having to stab a guy in the neck with a PDA stylus to get out of a kidnapping situation!

wocha. just returned from doing the cameroon, congo, angola thing. drove all the way by bike, appart from the odd river crossing. would suggest going via gabon to get angola visa and avoid the destinct lack of roads in north congo brazza! unless you like boats of course. and waiting. kinshasas not that bad. honest. you can email me if you want, mavisandma@hotmail.com.

that should be mavisandme@hotmail.com. oops.

I am planning to start a north-south transafrica trip in Morocco (by 4WD) at the start of January 04. This will put us in the Gabon/Congo/DRC/Angola area in Feb/March. As I understand it, this is the tail end of the rainy season. Does anyone have any experience or informed opinion on the passability of roads at this time of year?
Thanks, Witt |
