Gambia Visa
 

Hi everybody,

If any of you plan on passing through Gambia on your way south, I have just heard from Al who is taking our overland group through from Senegal to Sierra Leone at the moment.

The following nationals need a visa for Gambia (at least this is what is on the list as you cross the border close to Farafenni)

USA, Canada, France, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.

Not sure if any changes there, but just for your information in case.

I believe the official answer is no. However, they have in the past issued 48 hour transit visas which have to be extended in Banjul. Personally I would recommend you try and get it at the Gambian embassy in Dakar before heading to the border.

In March 2015 it was very easy to get a visa on the border (US passport 15,000cfa I think?) for 1 week (all I asked since we had to be back in a week). You are not limited to 28 hours (though I think the short transit visa is cheaper).

That is good to know. It was not on offer when we crossed (close to Farafenni) but it sounds like it should be. Will try again in March when we cross next.
