How to sell a car in Rwanda/Tanzania/Uganda?
 

Hi everyone,

We are 2 Dutch nationals who just bought a 4x4 Toyota Surf 1998 in Botswana. We want to spend the next 2 months driving to Kigali, Rwanda. Ideally we wish to sell the car there. We are trying to figure out how this works and what paperwork we need, but info is hard to find. Does anyone have experience selling a foreign registered car in Rwanda/Tanzania/Uganda?

It would be especially handy to know if we should prepare anything specific beforehand regarding our Botswana registration, or at the borders we'll cross (e.g. import/export permits, duties, etc).

Car sold easily in Kampala
 

Hello everyone,

In case you are looking to sell your car in central/east Africa, for us it worked out really well in Kampala.

We contacted several car dealers online, out of which three came to inspect the car. It was sold within days, for a fair price and minimal hassle. There seems to be a good market for second hand cars in Kampala.
