Importing a vehicle to The Gambia

Has anyone done this recently? Anyone know if there are any restrictions like those in Senegal where older than 5 years is forbidden?

We may be going there to work with an NGO and we'd like to have our own vehicle with us. It's a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser with Sierra Leone and Canadian registration.

You would be better using the Sierra Leone Plates, if you are Driving Down and if Ro-Ro or Container.
If it's LHD you can go around The Gambia. If it's RHD, you have 30 Days to change it, :nono: or go back to Senegal and come back in, another 30 Days, etc., etc.. :innocent:
No Restrictions..!! Apart from the RHD/LHD.
Give me an email, bristolcomputers@gmail.com If you like..

iif you are temporarily importing the vehicle into either Senegal or Gambia then it isn't a problem. You need a carnet now for travelling to the Gambia in a RHD I believe but I am guessing this doesn't apply to you.

I was traveling through Gambia with a car few months ago.
I had to pay on border some money and it was ok. senegaleese border didnt even exit my carnet since they "knew" i will have to come back (no oder border :)
i believe it was around 20-40euros for car.

since I was tired and had fever I might as well just pay this for nothing. idk

Traveling through is free. We passed through The Gambia in February with no issues or costs (other than an insane number of police all checking the same details as the officer 5 miles before did!!).

We may be going back longer term so this is more of a long term question rather than just a couple weeks vacation sort of thing.
