"List of Doom"
Hey guys,
My dad and I have a week to go now, yippee, before we begin our journey to the equator. Due to our route, I have put this list here and was hoping you could shed a little light on it with any info. specific to these countries. Even though its a week away, we still have time to get a few things, though we doubt any more can fit....any ideas? thanks for your help hay... mike The List of Doom: Clothing:

trip tattoo ?
Wow, you maybe started a new hype here...
http://www.petoparis.com/images/stor...ike/tattoo.jpg [Hope you don't have to divers too much from your planned route] |
i hope you make it.......
Have you ever ridden your bikes offr oad with ALL that stuff strapped to them? It seems a LOT of stuff......
I reckon your gonna wish you had left half or most of it behind. The old Backpackers rule applies: every 100 grams carried feels like a Kilo by the end of the day. Im betting thre gonna be a trail of fishing weigts, waffle irons, and tripods (use a rock, or the bike) across Africa! Best wishes though Martyn |
I hope we make it too....
Yeah, it is alot hay....we have actually halved quite a great deal now
though but still have yet to get to the packing part... glad you like the tattoo.... would be nice if we stuck to that route, it being a tattoo for life and everything...(still a bit scary having one) any specific bits of info for the east coast or zambia/angola? thanks mike |
Yeowzis!
I lost concentration after item 89... You really need to seriously reconsider your list guys! Thats just crazy, even half of that is crazy... its going to make your trip a drag man. I hope you scale down and have a blast! Jim |
Dude, reconsider the list even more!

PLEASE, so you don't have the worst, most miserable ride of your life, trim it down to even less. ( harmonicas and Brai griddles are not essential). then pack it up. Then go ride it off road!!!! HARD! then ride it on road HARD. then go home, chuck away the crap you decide is too heavy and you can do without, then repeat test 1 off road..... You will be thanking me half way across Africa! the conversation will go like this. "Dad..........., pant,........ grunt, :censored::censored::censored: ow,............ grunt,........... you ...................know............... that............ Martynbiker............guy..............off....... ........the..............HUBB?.......grunt, pant,......... pant, ........pant.........:censored:..:censored:....... .:censored:, well......he was right .........about, ........pant, .......pant,... grunt,. the weight!? Get it sorted BEFORE you leave Mike:thumbup1: Martyn |
I find myself agreeing YET AGAIN with Martyn, the guy offers really good advice and we do tent to think alike.
I like to pack for every emergency, but tent to keep sending stuff home alot. |
Cheers Dude!

which is why I feel qualified to offer Mike such strong advice. I can go a couple of weeks on a small holdall sized bag now...:thumbup1: That is why we are all here on the HUBB, to help each other have a better experience, to exchange differing views, experiences and tips that have made our Journeys more pleasant and to advise others on the pitfalls that made our journeys Hell. Shaved off
Hey Mike
I have had a look at your list mate and have shaved some things off that you don't really need. Remember it's Africa and you can get this stuff along the way if you really need it. Listen to Martyn, he does know what he's talking about. Martyn, you may be able to shave some more off as well? Cheers guys and enjoy your trip, maybe I will see you up in TZ for a coldie.
