Long-term parking in Kenya and other East African countries
 

Hello,

there are conflicting answers to the question how long a motorcycle can remain in Kenya (or in one of the neighboring countries). The motorcycle was imported with a Carnet de Passage which is still valid. Some say the maximum stay in Kenya is 3 months, others say the motorcycle may stay as long as the Carnet is valid. The bike is insured in Kenya with a local company.
Who is right?

I had a foriegn vehicle in Kenya for 3 years - just renewed the carnet each year. However if you are actually driving it on the road you need a Foriegn Vehicle Permit - monthly or quarterly. Might be the same for a bike.
