Mauri, Senegal & Gambia by motorbike: Carnet & Visas?
On a 2001 1150GS (+5yrs old), intend riding the Atlantic route - Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauri, Senegal, Gambia, ........ and back, February/March 2008.
Spent ages trawling through the forum looking for UP TO DATE info. on whether a CARNET would be essential for entry/exit to Mauri, Senegal, and Gambia. So many conflicting posts! :confused1: Can anybody help please? As regards VISAS, can the following be confirmed? Mauri - needed/buy at border/or in Rabat Senegal - not needed Gambia - not needed Current information very much appreciated. :thumbup1: Mike |

Hi Mystic,

Re. Carnets for Senegal & Gambia, do you know if it's possible to purchase 'something' at the borders? Or is the only option to get it before leaving? What a crazy world we live in! Different rules for different borders! Safe riding. Mystic |
hi mystic,
lallis information regarding visa is correct. senegal officialy you need carnet, but as i already wrote, at diama they will let you in without , may cost you anything between 40,- - 100,- euro, depending if you are in a hurry or not... gambia you don´t need carnet, they issue temporary import document, anything between 7 - 30 days, later on you can do extension at banjul, at least for 3 month. if you arrive with carnet, as lalli obviously did, of course they use it. todo |
