About to head into Mauritania, really looking forward to it but have some questions if anyone can help:

1) what's the road like from Nouckchatt to Atar? Paved, piste or sand?
2) what's the road like from Atar to Choum? Paved, piste or sand?
3) does the iron ore train stop in Choum?
4) what's the road like from Choum to Nauodhibou? We have heard it's awful and mainly just sand, is this true?

I drove in January 2017 Nouadibou - Choum - Atar - Tidjikja - Kiffa.

My answers:

1. paved
2. paved
3. yes
4. mostly hard sand, some soft parts, doable in 4WD in one day.
