Morocco - Gambia in july by car

Me and two friends are planning to take the atlantic route this summer in a car (with airco). I've heard some stories about the rain season making parts of Senegal hard to cross. Will this be doable?

I've only ever been down there in the winter months so what the conditions are like in summer I'm not really able to advise. I'd guess most of the problems would likely be along the river flood plains in the north and I know the main rd from Rosso to St Louis is banked up for some of its length - presumably to give it some flood resistance. Year on year variations, not only in rainfall but, further north, in desert temperatures, could make it a bit of a lottery. It was warm enough last time I rode down there in January. If you get a hot summer your air con (and cooling system) is going to earn its keep.
