No night time riding in Nigeria
Hello all
A small article in MCN this says "Nigerian officials are prventing bike related crime by stopping riders from using their bikes at night. Riders caught after dark face 8 months in prison. Pillions get 4 months behind bars" Youve been warned!! though its sounds a bit Harsh Take care |
8 months in Nigerian prison sounds like hell on Earth, but marginally better than getting killed on the roads. ie I wouldn't chose to ride at night regardless of the law

Guys, I sometimes ride my bike at night in Lagos and there is no such rule, specially for bikes bigger than 125cc. Police target the commercial bikes, aka Okadas, which take passengers for a fee and might cooperate with petty thieves snatching handbags or burglars. They are against these guys circulating at night, although there is no such thing as prison for them. They could face: first the "extraction" of a donation from their daily earnings or second a beating for not cooperating.
Having said the above, I would not circulate on Nigerian roads outside relatively safe town areas by night. It's almost Xmas and highway blocks by armed robbers are rampant. Follow the sun. Hope it helps. |
this is MCN you're talking about, experts in their own lunch hour. Nigeria wasn't made by BMW so they probably don't rate it.

I thought MCN prefer Honda!
