Hi,

Why would the piste not be open that time?

some say that the piste indeed closes in june (not sure when) because rainfall makes it a no go. the rain season does start towards the end of june, but looking at the rainfall charts, there doesnt seem to be so much compared to july. so, what gives?

hi,
it´s quite easy,
if there will be lot´s of rain in june, it will be closed,
police will not let you pass.
if it´s still dry about that time, it will be open.
no other chance as to check it out once you arrive there.

Valley of the Serpent

They do close the roads, especially when the earthen bridges collapse. However, once the rain stops for a bit then the bridges get rebuilt with a bit more earth and people carry on. The advantage of having a bike is that they will let you through, when its not raining, because the bike can pass through the rivers without hassles. I did it on a triumph thunderbird, i felt sorry for people stuck in their tro tro buses between broken bridges.
