Hello,

What's a nice place to stay in Port Sudan? Is there for example a place where most tourists stay that are heading to Saudi Arabia by ferry in their own car?

Since you haven’t had a reply from anyone in town, here’s my take:

Local ferry users either stay at their relatives or in any hotel. Since Port Sudan is considered as a safe area there is no specific need for tourists to group together.

You should find a hotel to suit your budget, cheap, medium or expensive.

A few names: the Hilton, the Samaramz, the Palace and the Amaysara.

If you have time for a trip north, I hear that Arous dive centre 60 km north of Port Sudan has been reactivated. It was built in the early-80’s and closed abruptly and mysteriously after the Israeli airlift of thousands of Falasha Jews through Sudan became public in 1985….
