Posting Spares to Cameroon

I want to get a small package (oil filter, spokes and keys) sent to Cameroon for me to collect on my way south.

What is the best way to do this?

As i do not plan to be there for another 6 weeks i have some time, and was going to use Post Restante- cheap and easy.

But do they hold Parcels? and for how long?

Or should i use a DHL type service and get the stuff sent to a hotel before i arrive.

Anythoughts welcome.

Using regular mail the chances are much higher that your package gets lost or delayed! My father-in-law always uses DHL to gets parts for his business to Maroua in northern Cameroun.

Hi Paul, hope the trip is going well. I dont know about other forms of post but we used DHL. Expensive but quick and reliable. Also you dont need to get the package sent to a hotel, DHL has depots in most capital cities and they will hold your parcel for you.

Cheers

HI Paul

I am fliying to Yaounde in about 1 month , to pick up my bike to resume the trip to capetown

and -even more convenient - I plan to fly to london in a few weeks for a weekend in Brixton :).

so .. assuming you trust me and we are talking about less than 5 kilos , I can pick up your things in London and leave them in Yaounde .

Have a nice day

hi Paul .. Its me again

thinking about that ... I am sure you can get whichever part you need in Cameroon . Its full of shops , motorcycle workshops (*I mean real-motorbike's workshops ) ,

plenty of synth oil , parts , tyres , absolutely everything .Yaounde is a big -modern- city , with cashpoints , DSL , wifi , garages , workshops ,etc..

\anyway .. my offer is still up . If you want I can bring those things there for you . and that will cost you a couple Pints of Fosters in London :)

Wow, you could have been my night in shinning armour! Thanks but i believe the stuff has now been posted. Thanks for the info too.

Not sure about the Fosters but ill buy you a bottle flag or what ever fine beer they have in Yaounde if your their whan i am. Providing i can get through Nigeria armed only with a Leatherman.
