Selling car in Gambia
After finishing the B2 race im going to sell my car in Banjul,Gambia.
I would like know if there's a market there for my kind of car and what I can expect to get for it. Do I need to watch out for something when selling? Any advice are welcome. This is my car: Mitsubishi L300 2,5 TD 4 x 4 -93 mod http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps8b73aa37.jpg |
tasty truck that
is it lhd? if so, you should get good money for it, much more than you paid for it, assuming things haven't changed since I last sold vehicle there in 2007. |
Yes it's lhd and I'm very happy with the car, so it is with mixed feeling that I have to sell her. I dont have time or money to ship her or drive it home.
I had a Toyota Hiace 4x4 for the race but it didn't pass the inspection her in Norway and it will be to expensive to fix it. And I don't want to bring any junk down to Africa. That's why I will use my own car and hopefully get some of the money back. BTW the picture is from a trip my son and I made to Russia last year in february. We slept in the car and the coldest part of the journey was in Sweden with -35,8 C* |
oh come on - you can easily fix the Toyo in Morocco. And what you arrive with in Gambia will then be better than 95% of the local car park.
Nowhere along the route will they ask about how the Norwegian inspection came out. |

Maybe a more serious threat is that my insurance will stop to work if I had a accident with a car that didn' pass the inspection. |
Any small van is a desirable vehicle in Africa. It will no doubt become a "mini-bus" between towns and cities. I'm sure your Toyota van would also be worthwhile down in Africa.
They will fix it their way and run with it till it really is unsafe to drive!:helpsmilie: Then when it crashes they'll salvage everything and use it again!! |
Well you need a driveline and brakes so you can start, go, stop. Tires near the end of their life will work, carry two spares. In Europe it is good to have working electrics. ANything can be fixed in Morocco for small money. As for insurance I get a green card even without inspection. I think you will get more money for the Toyo. And then you will still have that nice looking Mitsu!
