Selling an Irish bike in South Africa
 

I'm currently in Cape Town with an Irish-registered Yamaha TT600RE, which I brought in on a temporary import permit.

I'm considering selling it but am worried about the hassle involved. Is it possible to sell it to a South African, or would it be next to impossible for them to import it (heard it used to be very hard)?

Could I sell to another traveler, and somehow transfer the TIP to them?

Please, don't sell your bike illegally - it will make harder to get TIP for next travelers without carnet de passage.

And the question: How is the procedure of getting TIP for SAR looks like now?

Looking to sell it legally or ship it back. Has anyone sold a euro bike in SA?

TIP at Namibian border was free and easy. They have me six months, they might be able to do more if you ask.
