Senegal beach route – Dakar to St Louis
Tickets bought and bikes almost ready, we are off to The Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania in January/February 2004.
Does anyone a) have information or recent GPS waypoints for a route onto (, along) and off the beach between Dakar and St Louis b) know where I can get the tide times for Dakar, St Louis, Nouakchott and Nouadhibou? Thanks |
For tide info go to http://www.ukho.gov.uk/tideprediction.cfm
It should give you all the info you will need to know. You will not need any GPS co/rds for St Louis to Dakar. It is straight forward and the beach is generally flat and easy to navigate. Regards David |
David - Thanks for the tide info.
Finding the beach at Kayar should be simple but can we ride straight into St Louis or do we need to head inland before we get there? Pete |

A good question. As you get closer to St Louis there are water ways & salt pans, with & with out water & tidal. If it gets too differcult you can just go right on to the road. You should be able to judge it yourself and it wouldn't be more than 10-20 kms from St Louis. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Regards David |
Just found this site with Dakar - St Louis route http://www.regio-team.ch/zebrabar/. Bikes now on boat, see you there in January.
