TransAfrica – Westcoast – South/North - recent Infos anyone?
Hi all,
I have done the East Coast in 2009 but I am hearing that this is a piece of cake compared to the West Coast. Congo’s: -Is there a way to bypass these countries by ship? It seems to be quiet a hassle to get Visas only for that very short stretch Timing: -Plan is to leave in August next year and do the first leg from East London (Southafrica) to Libreville (Gabon) in about 4-6 weeks. I am grateful for any piece of information. Thanks a lot, Alex |
You ask a bit generally.
I try to maintain a list of travellers from 2011 upwards who did the west route and write a blog or website: Trans-Africa: Gerade Unterwegs... There you find all informations you need. For shure there are more travellers, because many dont write a blog, but it is better than nothing. If you have detail-questions, ask :-) Surfy |
I am also interested as my wife & I are headed up the west side starting in Cape Town in May/June & not sure on Visa's etc. Also was planning on about 5 months is this enough time ?
Cheers Paul |
Hey, thanks for the link. This will be some over Christmas read...
Looking forward. Btw. Made my decision on the bike now: 2010 r1200gs adventure Hope not the worst decision..since the weight on the bike...happy Christmas everyone!! |
Alex are you 2up (just wondering the reason for such a large bike ?)
Did you you travel with Ted for a while on the east side as well ? Also you will more than likely catch up to us as we are leaving in May/June 2014 (our bikes are in Cape Town) but cruise rather slow, as we will take maybe 5,6 or even 7 months to get to Europe. Cheers Paul |
Hi,
No 2 up, just me. Chose the bike because it's sitting in the garage ;-) Also we made some good experience on the east coast. Big tank, luggage capabilities, etc... Maybe we meet up somewhere.... Do you think I ll find storage somewhere in Libreville?? Have to leave the bike there after first leg...(if I make it there) Happy Christmas |
