Travel times Nouakchott Bamako Timbuktu
 

Hi

We are traveling in two 4x4 in Jan 2011 we hope to overland trom Dublin to Timbucktu and on to Freetown we are very short of time for our trip as we leave Tanger 26/12 and must be in Freetown 14/01/2011 has anybody any knowledge on travel time and route advice
between
1 nouakchott - bamako
2 bamako - timbuktu
3 bamako - freetown

Ive done Nouakchott to Bamako but via Dakar...presume you want to go the direct route via Nioro?

Bamako to Douantza (turn off for Tbtu) is good tar seal all the way.....hmmm, from memory approx 12 hours drive (depends on getting stuck behind slow trucks, police, your vehicle speed etc).....Douantza to Tbto is a corrugated road, can be done in about 4-6 hrs (I drove a truck) and hooned it to smooth out the corrugations. Much faster in a 4x4.

Very interested in your route Bamako to Freetown....are you going via Guinea? If so what route exactly?
