Travelling Solo. Kenya to South Africa
In 2016 I'm planning on travelling solo from Kenya through Tanzania, Malawi,Mozambique and into South Africa.
Getting the usual comments, to dangerous, what happens if!!! etc, etc. I'm reading border crossings seem to be OK. I would be looking to link up with someone in Kenya from Horizons when the time gets closer. I live in Australia and travel around Australia a lot. Also travelled in South Africa and the US. Question 1: Is their anyone in Africa who would like to travel with me as a guide/ fixer. Payment for services could be negotiated. Question 2:Members opinion on this area. Bundy54 BMW1200GSW |
Did Kenya to SA via Botswana 18 months ago on my own. No problems. Lots of fixers at borders but they all overcharge, was told to negotiate, start with 25 percent and do not go over 50. They are only making a living and you may be the only person they get that month.

Kenia to Southafrica is the safest and easyest part of Africa you can do. I did this trip three times now once with a 12 tonnes truck. Hope to see you soon, Tobi Adventure experience - motorcycle trip riding across Africa |
South and east Africa is safe and easy IMHO. Only paid one fixer on our recent trip (Capetown, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia again, Zimbabwe and back to Capetown) and that was at Tunduma. Paid $20, but we piggybacked with some 4x4 types. Otherwise not needed, borders are easy- some are quieter than others, we were the only people crossing at Kariba.
