Visa for CAR in Cameroon?
[Central African Republic]
And any recent CAR trip reports from HUBBsters? The Pander. |
Hey Pander,
you are going for it. aren't you? You will get the visa in Yaounde. I don't have the exact position of the CAR-Embassy. If you don't find it you might get the visa at the french embassy as well, espacially if there is no CAR-Embassy. Let me know the GPS-Data or please post it here: Routen, Schlafplätze, Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten, Botschaften, Länderinformationen von Reisenden für Reisende Save journey Peter |
thanks. yes, i'm going for it; CAR west -> east. [thanks for the tips on the other thread]
when did you get your visa and roughly what did you pay? |
Well, I got mine in Germany, but I was sure that these norwegian guys (Safarica - Cameroon) I sent for gorilla trekking into the CAR got their visas in Yaounde. After a short visit on their page I realised, they didn't. Sorry for that. But they got it at a French Embassy and that is similar to my informations: You will get the visa either at a CAR-Embassy or at a French one.
The cost in Germany was 90 Euro which is really expensive not only compared to other countries. Some german guys got it in Ndjamena (Routes, overnight places, accomodations, embassies, country details) for 30.000 CFA, which equals 45 Euros. This was in 2001, so it might be more expensive now. Cheers Peter |
CAR Visas
HI guys!
Just letting you know that me and my partner got our CAR visas with no hassles in Yaounde within a day or two (we weren't planning on heading there but we also decided to do a side trip to trek the gorillas and see the Pgymees) - a must if you head there. Go to Dzanga Sangha national Park.. it's much cheaper seeing the gorillas there than on the east coast. The visas costs us 20,000 CFA each (around Feb/Mar 2007) I loved CAR but be prepared to have extra time at every checkpoint as they want $$$$$. We got increasing frustrated but learnt tricks of the trade and a little patience. ( we found out after that the government doesn't pay their officers so their form of income comes from tourist) All the best, let me know how the east side is Amy |
Hey Amy,
did you record the position of the embassy in Yaounde? |
CAR position
Sorry Slep Africa, I don't have the location of the Embassy! Rob still has the GPS but from memory, it's at the bottom of this hill, at the start of the main area where all the embassies are based. JUst ask around though, most people should know.
Good luck, CAR was one of the highlights as it's so primitive and untouched in so many ways.. I'll be very interested to hear how you go and the experiences you have Amy |
Thanks again all. It looks as if the SW of CAR can be done. All warnings seem to point towards the North, and NW in particular as being more dangerous. I'm planning to try and carve a southern route from W to E, maybe having to pass through Bangui. Were you warned not to visit certain areas, Amy?
