Welcome South Sudan!
Welcome to the World South Sudan!! ;) Lets hope it goes well for them....
South Sudan: the birth of a new republic | World news | The Guardian May you allow safe and easy travel for all overlanders in years to come.....! |
indeed.
Will they now demand huge bribes at the new border as they surely can't have a Visa process in place. Sounds like there's some money to be made for the guys at the "gate". |
Steady on mate, they haven't even started existing and your accusing them of corruption! They do have a visa system of sorts in place, have done for a while.

Have a look at my travel report from the beginning of this year. Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Juba (South Sudan) - Gentleman Adventurer There has been a GOSS - Government of South Sudan visa process in place for quite a while. |
Now in Juba
I crossed Nimule border 2 days ago, 7th of July
It takes about 30 minutes to fill the application and get "GOSS Travel permit". And Uganda border crossing was also very quick and easy. |
Hey Tarmo 247, did you get the visa just like that on the border? That sounds almost too easy.
I like South Sudan!:thumbup1: Given the new visa situation for the DRC and the difficulty in getting a visa for Angola, South Sudan would shape up as a good alternative for a route from Southern Africa to Westafrica crossing along the lines of South Sudan - CAR - Cameroon. |
Or South Sudan - Chad - Niger - Mali
though south Sudan doesn't have a direct border with Chad |

You need 2 photos, 1 for applications and second for travel permit. And 50 USD was visa (Travel Permit) and they asked 5 USD for registration (I paid 10 Sudanese pounds) No one asked Carnet or any other car papers. |
