1982 TS185ER lighting issues
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, I've had a look through previous threads, however can't find anything pertaining to my issue?
Basically head & tail lights do not work unless I DISCONNECT the lighting coil wire (yellow/red - connection under tank) and then supply 6V power directly to the yellow/red wire to the switch. Everything works OK then. Looking at the wiring diagram it is the yellow/red at the switch that then supplies power to grey, which powers the On/Off & High/Low beam. So is this a switch issue or other issue?? Thanks in advance. |

It sounds like there a short circuit in the lighting coil. Bikes for different markets can vary according to local regulations, but normally the headlight only is supplied from the lighting coil and the other lights are powered from the battery. This means the headlight will only go when the motor is running, and receives AC current.

Thanks for that, I'll do some testing on the coil. I see the coils are still available so that's a plus.
