1995 DR350E Electrical Problem!
I have a 1995 Suzuki 350 with electric start. I charged the battery this spring and when I went to start it, I heard a click of the starter engage, then a faint pop. After this all went dead. No headlight, neutral light, no starter. The parking light would come on when the key was switched to that position. After the bike sat for 3 days I went to dig into the problem, and when the key was turning on, I had lights. I pushed the starter button and the situation repeated. Battery connections are solid and I couldn't find anything loose under the dash area. The fuse is ok. Very strange that it actually came back to power on, then repeated to complete dead. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but... are you sure the battery is good? You charged it but perhaps it will not hold anything remarkable.

I'm with Rebaseonu on this one. First thing I would try is some jumper leads off a good battery to rule your battery.
If not that, I would still replace the fuse. I have seen old fuses sort of fracture and fail when they look OK. It could be heating up and separating, then cooling and making partial contact again. Regards Nigel in NZ |
Gents, you called it. I have never had a battery fail in this manner. I tried a different battery and all worked properly.
Thanks much! Scott. |
