2001 Africa Twin, help

Hey Guys,

What do you think a 2001 model Africa Twin would be worth? It has 25,000 km on the clock, looks a bit tatty (lived outside in the tropics) Need new tyres, Sprockets and chain, and rear wheel bearings and maybe a rear shock if it can't be rebuilt?

Any suggestions would be appreciated . Also what are they really like?

Cheers
Ivan

I think the Honda section would be able to help you more.
The Africa Twin is a great bike but still needs to be looked after and really in your situation it's only worth what you are willing to pay for it as it is very difficult for us to assess the value of a bike we can't see.
I would look on ebay to see if there are any bikes in similar condition to see how much they are asking or bidding.
Cheers

Just seen a UK ad for a 2001 26000miles in good nick asking £3200
One in OZ 1998 25000klms in good nick $6900
One in Ireland a real shitter 1993 £350
Not a lot to go on but as I said before It's what your willing to pay, trust your instincts on this.
Cheers

Your market is NOT the usual market -you're in Africa. Here (Europe)I'd say £2000 for the bike minus £100 for chain and sprockets, and £400 for rear shock to replace new. The bearings are cheap but your labour for 2 hours at £20 per hour = £40. Plus labour for the shock =2 hours. Tyres say £50 each. Fitting £20 .

Offer £1200, pay £1350 - £1400, max. But I repeat youre not in a normal market. You could try £900 or less.

Whats it like? read around the web.......
