650 Vstrom
 

I'm about to buy a new 650 Vstrom

Years ago the alternator on the stroms suffered from problems and failure at various ages from new. Have the alternator issues been remedied with the newer models now? tnx

Mine is a second generation 2014, purchased new in 2016.

Suzuki did a recall for replacement of all stators of this generation. I now have 66,000 miles and haven't had any problems with it, and haven't heard of any either. ( in fact I've had exactly zero problems with this bike.) My conclusion is they fixed it and yours should be good to go!

I could not agree more. I had a 2013 that I bought new but had to sell it when I retired and moved to Mexico as an expat. Now it's a toss up between a Himalayan from Royal Enfield or another 650 vstrom. Tnx for the input on the alternators. Cheers

I've owned three of them, each one better than the last. They're a solid bike.
