DRz400s radiator on a 400E??
I had a bit of a heavy tumble on my 04 400E on saturday resulting in a ruined left hand rad. I phoned a suzuki dealer for the price of replacement and was quoted £240, which is about double what I was expecting.
Anyway, I doubt I'll be able to find a decent secondhand E model rad (most tend to get bent up), but I have seen one of an S on Ebay for sensible money. It seems I can plumb the left hand S rad in series with the right hand E rad, blanking off the extra bottom outlet on the right hand rad. This should get the bike up and running again until I can get a matching pair secondhand. Has anybody run S model rads on an E?? I may go for the full S model conversion anyway as I'm planninng to take the bike down to Morocco and like the idea of the option of adding a warning light and fan to the cooling system. |
I don't think there is any diffrance between the E and the S model radiators. There is a plug on the E model where the heat sensor plugs in that controls the fan.

Anyway, I've located a pair of 400S radiators plus a set of pipes, so I'll be able to swap the whole lot over. I may need to get the thermostat housing off an S as well, but I'll have a play around with the pipes first to see if I can get around it. On the plus side I'll now have the option to fit a fan and warning light to the cooling system which will be useful for hotter climates. |
