HELP! please read
ok i have a major problem. stupidly self inflicted.
I was cleaning around the spark plug holes before a did a valve check and i put pieces of toilet paper in the holes to block them from getting sand and grit in them. there was quiet a bit of it around the holes. so a large bit of toilet paper ( a whole square) slipped into one of the spark plug holes into the cylinder!!! what do i do? i have no idea how to get it back out again!? im in Mandoza Argentina.... and need to get on the road tomorrow.. (long story) any advice would be appreaciated! ah! |
im thinking it will just be burnt to smithereens on the first few strokes and exhuasted?
|
Personally I'd just fire it up, it was just an ordinary little square of toilet paper right?
Although if you could get it out with tweezers, may not be a bad idea? |
think im just going to fire it up. i cant see it with a torch. at the moment waitingon a friend to return so he can spin the back wheel while i line up TDC and feel for the compression stroke..
thanks for the advice |
Earth the spark plug and turn the engine over on the e-start, might get blown out through the plug hole?
|
Quote:
Not a bad idea, or get the cylinder on TDC and get a small length of something like a screwdriver and put grease on it and hope the toilet paper 'sticks' to it, but be very careful. |
its waiting on TDC at the moment for the valve check. just had to do a quick run to the vinyards with some friends :-S a little tipsy now, seems like a good time to get it over with. will try and fish it out first. if not just pressing the button
|
So what happened?!
|
As with most people that don't post a response I always assume that no news is good news... and my bet is that the toilet paper just burnt and disintegrated on running the bike. jeiger
It would have been a completely different story if a metal object or material or other foreign object made its way into the cylinder head... I think the moral here is to take (EXTRA) care when cleaning the bike and removing sparkplugs. :mchappy: |
