Price range on used DR650
Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this post should go here or in the "which bike" forum. Anyway, here goes.
I'm in the market for a used DR650. I will be talking Canadian dollars, so the prices may sound a little high to the Americans. A new one costs around $6900 up here. There is an 05 with 7112km for $4200. No modifications other than knobby tires. What do you guys think? Thanks for ay input. Ben |
Good Hunting!
I don't know much about the Canadian market other than DR650's seem a bit scarce and a bit more expensive there. Although used DR650's here in California have gone up sharply in the last year. (good news for me, I own two!) This bike has really caught on around here, sales, both New and Used, have really increased.
If the bike you're looking at hasn't been beat on and hasn't sat outside or been ridden a lot off road, then it could be a good deal. Any bike ridden a lot off road is going to suffer, even the DR. Price should reflect this. If it's never been off road, all the better. Have a close look. 7K kms. is nothing, bike should go past 50K kms easily with decent care. If you are looking for a travel bike then I would buy in California as there are so many for sale at good prices. (compared to Canada) I have no idea how you import that bike to Canada or if this is even possible without paying huge taxes. But if you're headed South, you could just buy and go and re-sell on the road or when back into the USA. :mchappy: |
Thanks for the reply Mickey, I do plan on riding south so that option is something to think about.

I paid $4500 for mine last September. It had 7400km on it and was in good shape. I think the price sounds fair if it hasn't been beat.

I agree with the others as well. That's a good deal, if it hasn't been abused.
I paid $4800 in the fall of '08 for an '08 model with 5000km's + a few noteworthy mods. It's a fun bike and you won't regret your purchase.:scooter: |
