storing my dr650
hi folks, just a qiuck question or two.
I'm keeping my bike in the garage for about 2 months, do you think I need to do anything to it? is 2 months not reall anything to worry about? I heard that with dr650's you need to have the piston or something at the top of the block. Not to sure, but something to do with where the cylinder or piston is. not sure really. I don't think i need to worry, though i have pretty much no bike knowledge. Anyhows up, many thanks. :thumbup1: |
I normally leave a battery tender on mine betwenn Nov. to mid Feb. with no problems.:thumbup1:

Drain the carby. Stops it from gumming up.

2 months is nothing...
Would be a good idea to keep the battery on a tender though. If possible, run it every weekend to keep the fuel moving through the carbs. You can get fuel preservative sachets pretty cheaply too. |
As Ted says, two months should be no problem.
For longer layups; fuel stabiliser in a full tank; make sure you've run the bike for a while to get some through the carb(s) and a battery tender should see you fine. This of course assumes you have some lectrickery in the garage. My roadbike sometimes sits for six months at a time and has always fired up (so far) |
