Ticking on DR650 when starting

Hi all.

I have a dr650se 96 and for some reason, when i press the starter button in, there is a fast ticking sound coming from i think the under the exhaust guard.

i think its to do with ignition relay.

what do you peeps think? any thoughts?

i tried bumping it but no joy.

thanks

mike

i left it out for three months over the winter. and the baby, started up with fuel on prime. battery had no probs.

then i left it for about 5 weeks out in spring

and this has happened.

why you think its the battery???

thanks for quick reply

The clicking is the relay.

You really need to get a cheap multimeter (under £5 in argos, wilkos etc) and check the voltage. It should be over 12V at least...

Batteries are one of those "Use it or lose it " items... You need to keep riding or keep it on an optimate etc.

The last time you started probably sucked the last of the life out of it's bowels and now it's dead..

I'm 99% sure you need a new battery. Worth checking with a meter first though. And don't buy a cheap ass battery. They're a false economy.
