MPG .... yamaha t700
Just got back after 2 days in north wales on my t700 doing back roads and a few easy byways . and i got 90 miles to a gallon on juice ! not bad eh ??

My 2022 Euro5 Canada spec reports 4.7L per 100Km. I have a Camel ADV 5L aux tank and can report 500Km+ range at 80 to 90Km/h. On the reserve I get 105Km. I'm using 87 octane fuel. Charcoal canister is removed.

Riding round Europe last month (not like a granny but not in a hurry either) I got 70mpg overall from mine. And on the World Raid with a 23 litre tank that's more than 350 mile range (570 kms) which isn't too shabby.

I ride quite gently, always with the thought at the back of my mind that I need the bike to get me back home from a long trip. Measured over nearly 25,000km from 2013 to 2917, my KTM 690 consumption averaged 24.7 km per litre with an all time high of 30.7 km per litre.
@Tango's 4.7l/100km is 21.25 km per litre. @Tomkat's 70 mpg is 26km per litre. Dabou's 90mpg works out at 20.9 miles per litre, or 33.5 km per litre. So I would be extremely interested in finding out how this was achieved. Quote:

its all to do with the right hand !! If i am out on my own around wales , i usually ride around 50 miles per hour! with no heavy use of the engine ! I have fitted a larger front sprocket on the bike and a Black Widow exhaust . My mpg never drops below 70mpg ! My crf 300 rally does ( most times ) over a 100 !! I allways use 97 ,99 fuel , and............. keep my chain well oiled all the time |
Travelling around Upper Bavaria leisurely (80 kph = 50mph) my F650GS twin (800cc) does around 29.5 to 30.3 kms per litre. But when "on the road" with my alu panniers, sticking out even farther than the mirrors - which is actually illegal here - the consumption rises to an average of 25 kms / litre. This, when keeping to speeds between 80 and 100 kph, which is much less than the old 2V-GS with carburetors.
My old 2V-GS, also 800 cc, at same speeds only achieved 18 to 20 kms/litre. |
My first batch 2019 T7, averages 4l/100km in all sorts of riding, loaded with soft luggage.
I noticed that since this bike has quite a short gear ratio, it is more sensible than normal to throttle use in fuel consumption. If you are very progressive with the throttle input and go at travel pace (max 115km/h indicated) you get 3.5l/100km average which is well over 420km range. Put a 16 tooth front sprocket and fuel consumption goes down by 6% to 7%. |
On my former 2020 T7 Rally Edition I usually averaged between 29 and 30 km per litre, with an all-time high of 32.5 kmpl. No urban use and possibly no motorway, just national and secondary roads with speedometer between 80 and 100 (be aware that the speedo on the T7 is REALLY bad, at least 10% off). Original sprockets, riding smoothly is made much easier by the smooth delivery of the CP2 engine at very low rpm. Data collected during 50,000 km.
With my actual CFMOTO 800MT (4 months and around 7,000 km) I seem not to be able to average more than 25, with an all-time high of 26.3. Riding style and conditions being the same as the T7's. |
