Site for parts interchangeability?
Hello
I own a Yamaha 2001 TT600R and some of it's parts are shared with several other Yamaha models, for example the XT, XTZ, YZ, etc. Let me give you a example...the chain guide is fitted with a plastic piece, which has parts number 5CHF54440000. The TT600R shares that part with several YZ models from 89-91 and the 2011 YZ250. So I was wondering, if any of you know a site, where you can enter a parts number and see which particular bike models share that same part? It would make searching for parts that much easier, especially on a bike like the TT600R, that isn't as common as a XT or YZ. |
Is it helpful to use a Yamaha OEM site like gearhead? Type in the part number only? It wouldn't show what other models use thst part, though. Do you have to know that?
I'm probably not understanding your needs. |
Mads - probably not so helpful 3 weeks later.....
But I have used www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk for this purpose previously. :thumbup1: Link to TT600R To use, locate the part that you are interested in and further down it will give you the details of other models that this part fits. |
I would search around the Yamaha Forum here on HUBB, Yam singles are one of the most popular bike on here. Lots of knowledge/experience.
Specialist forums for YOUR BIKE are good too ... as some long time owners may have stumbled across various parts that cross over, even NON Yamaha bikes. The Japanese OEM's share lots of components, like brakes, Carbs, electrical, wheels, bearings and suspension. All Japanese OEM's buy from: Showa, KYB, Denso, Kokuson, Tokico, Sumitomo, Koyo, Mikuni, Keihin and more. This is a great way to save money as sometimes you can source used parts from breakers (junk yards). I don't know Yamaha's well at all, only owned a TDM and some YZ race bikes. But with big Suzuki Vstrom forums, guys found some interesting cross overs from other Suzuki (and OTHER BRANDS TOO!) that worked on the Vstrom. I know of no web site that has a searchable database with this specific info. One on One personal owner knowledge is your best source for info, IMHO! bier |
Thanks fellas
