Small 12v tyre inflator wanted
 

I had my tools stolen whilst in Morocco, so need to buy everything again!

I was using a Slime 12v inflator which I've found online for £35. Also sold by Nippy Norman.

Are there any other options for a small 12v compressor?

Living in Canada so probably not much help but I bought a small compressor at Walmart for 9.95 and cut the cig. lighter end off it and added a powerlet plug.
I use it on the bike for airing up tires and around the house for kids water toys, also boat trailer tires.
I cut the plastic handle off of it and it fits nicely in my tool area. I have seen them in other stores also.

I picked one up a while back for about £6 in Tescos but couldn't see any the other day. Don't know how it would compare to the slime one but inflated several tyres(inc. Tubliss to 110psi!) and it's still showing willing, probably waiting for the most dramatic location to explode....
Was it the incident you wrote about the other day when your tools were donated to the community?

If you can wait a month or so when I am next going to UK, I will bring you back one not much bigger than shown for well under a tenner at our local Moscow supermarket.

Nothing special, but a similar one served SibirskyExtreme very well last year - including my legendry 20 flats plus some for Colebatch and Tee Bee.

I've used this one from screwfix for over a year now. I cut the length of the lead and added a BMW plug.

We like our CyclePump from BestRest It's compact, built for being tossed in a pannier and bounced around for thousands of miles, and has a bunch of adapters. I'm pretty sure you could drop your bike on it without worry too. It's not the cheapest one out there ($100 US) and I don't think i'd want to deal with getting one shipped to Morocco, but we like it.

If I were in the middle of some country with limited options I think I'd just go for the cheapest one i could find with a cigarette adapter and get rid of the plastic housing to cut down on the size. Get a good one when you get back to a country with better choices.

No, it was a separate incident in the most eventful tour so far. Multiple inner tube failures, electrical failure (rectifier burnt out), holed sump. But then with seven weeks and 8000 km, of which maybe 2500km offroad, you have to expect some problems.

I brought one of these from Halfords http://washford.scene7.com/is/image/.../261396?$prod$ and spent an hour cutting the housing to bits to extract the pump itself. It's small enough to hold in the palm of your hand and is all steel/cast ali.

I bought a couple of small ones from screwfix.com ... took one with me this year and its done the job well enough ... 10 quid I think it was

its gone up ... 12.50 now.

whatever one you buy take the ridiculous sized plastic case off it and you will find its a quarter of the size. cut the heavy rubber hose down to about 8" and recrimp the valve adaptor back on, and cut the electric lead down to 4' with a hella/BMW plug on it to suit the power socket on your bike.

you now have a tiny, noisy but effective 12v pump. DO NOT GET YOUR FINGERS ANYWHERE NEAR THE PUMP WHEN ITS ON. youve been warned

I got 1 a while back from Tesco's lidl had them a while a go machine mart also do them

I have just bought a stop and go mini compressor from M&P for £25 , nice and compact

thats smaller than my cut down compressor, and much more finger safe! mine was only £4.99 but if i used it a lot like changing pressures for off/on road all the time, id have yours

I have seen that done before, but then they self disintegrate on long trips due to lack of casing / protection.
