I've just taken voluntary redundancy, looking to do a few trips this year, currently ride a sports tourer, I'm in Leicester UK, open to any ideas also.

How about eastern Europe? Not too far away and the living becomes vey cheap once past Austira you could do a grand old tour in 8 weeks and come back through the alps.

Thank you for idea's all, eastern Europe is appealing and considering Poland down to Bulgaria and maybe dip a toe into Turkey. That's my thoughts so far......

make sure you do the croatian coastal road. now there is a motorway it is relatively quiet but the road is absolutely fantasitic. really good sports tourer territory.

Good call. An alternative is to fly to Kuala Lumpur, rent a Versys and head to the Cameron Highlands. Very friendly, inexpensive country, bike-friendly too.

If you only have 8 weeks I wouldn't ship a bike. Any problems with customs it will eat into your time.
I'd either fly somewhere and rent (SE Asia), ride to Morocco or Eastern Europe.
Don't plan too much, just go!!!
