2015 Indian Scout - what do you think?

What do folks think about the new Indian Scout being shown off this past weekend in Sturgis?
2015 Indian Scout- Cruiser Motorcycle First Ride Review- Photos- Pricing I really like the revived Indian Chiefs, though I would never own one, due to both cost and size. I have to admit that the new Scout does sort of appeal to me - at 560 pounds wet and about the same price as a Harley Sportster 1200, it is more to my liking than the Chief. |

I guess it's probably cause the Indian you mention in first post hasnt got knobbly tyres and goes off the beaten track (well not very well anyway):mchappy:

You can get a Super Tenere for about the same money. If I was gonna get a cruiser it would be the Harley XR1200.

I imagine that's it. Funny - I would have thought most riders here are into more than just "adventure style" bikes. Ultimately, a bike is a bike is a bike.
Most of my riding is either commuting or long distance road trips, so a cruiser works for me if the footpegs aren't too far forward. |

Isn't that a "standard"? I thought the whole point of cruisers was style (usually cloned high bars, long forks, leaky leather luggage, 90 mile tank range etc.) over function, mobile artwork sort of stuff? It is true I don't get cruisers. Usually work on the say-something-nice-or-not-at-policy, but you did ask. Enjoy your ride if you do get cruisers. Andy |
yeh, to me, the whole ethos of cruisers is off,
as the other bloke said, your paying for style, not substance and your paying a heck of a lot extra for that style. its not just cruisers though, i myself would love to ride a classic looking thing, like a triumph or enfield, but for the price of them, i can get a much more functional bike i mean, sure, they look awesome (the pipes are usually a bit obnoxious) but dont pretend its anything more than a fashion statement. |
