A great initiative in Timbuktu / Tombouctou
 

Perhaps none of us will have the opportunity to ride to Northern Mali and visit the mythical Timbuktu. The 1600 years old city is now virtually dead because of political conflicts. You can support Timbuktu's local post office, the people and businesses by having them send you, or your friends, a postcard from Timbuktu. I love the idea and wished to share it.

I like that idea and after two failed attempts to get to Timbuktu it would be kind of ironic to send one as a birthday card to a friend. Even if I can't get there my money can. :rofl: My only reservation would be in ensuring only the correct amount ends up there

Considering that many charities or foundations have up to 80% "management fees" I wouldn't worry too much. Pretty sure every single $ goes a long way in Timbuktu. :D

Well, I've ordered one and we'll see what happens, how long it takes etc.
