Ted,

this is just the magazine we have ALL been waiting for, how could you travel before? Maybe I can advertise my new seminars (2499 teuros only, not included food and drink) "how to tell the story about the journey you never did"... this is for people that want to save a lot of money on visas, bikes and preparing.

... pls pm me if you are still planing to go to South America.

Greetings from Germanyjeiger

ps. did you know that Germany is the cheapest country on the planet for beer and that people still complain about the price ....

Only trouble is Ted that, as parodies go, it's out parodied by the real thing (:confused1:) -

Adventure Motorcycle - Issue-63

ridetheworld 30 Sep 2014 13:45

Adventure "DEATH", ESCAPING Angolan "HELLHOLE" - wow, using language like like to describe places the places that make motorcycle travel so magical seems rather like they miss the point and no doubt adds to, and perpetuates the misinformation and fear that stops people (Americans?) going on long-distance touring in the first place. Journalists and the media have a lot of answer for...

I used to wonder what all the fuss about the GS crowd was, and why people take the piss. Now I know a bit about the whole "ADR" thing, yes! - how silly people look pulling up at traffic lights on some huge, immaculate adventure bike, pristine KLIM jumpsuits on, fully outfitted in aluminum panniers - (presumably?) on their way to work, or to visit their mum etc.

The gadgets/accessories are a fun aspect of all this for me, but I guess as usual some get a bit carried away with it. But each to their own I suppose, and at least they fund the R&D departments of SHOEI, etc who research high-end stuff that eventually filters its way down to the unwashed.

When they say "relates to the masses" would that be the weight of all the laser cut aluminium?

I had to look and ..............yes found it > Pintprice, compare beer prices from around the world

mika 30 Sep 2014 22:53

beerprices

if I look at the link above, then Germany is not that cheap ...:innocent: ... I paid yesterday for a crate 20 bottles each 0,5 liters (a total of 10 liters) 6 euros, and they had a crate for 5 euros ... for me this is cheap. And if I think back, the Venezuela last year was cheaper ... greetings from Germany... oh today my friend paid 14 euros a crate ... mikabier

You mean you've never gone on a desert raid, shot up a few oil wells and made it back in time for your smoked kipper? Call yourself a biker, we do it all the time.:rofl::rofl:

(dodgy UK Lord Flashheart cultural references available on request)

It's a desperate attempt to glamourise a magazine full of articles about oiling your chain and which way up to hold a map. They all do it - "Ideal Home" mag is really shorthand for "Better Homes Than You Can Afford". Who'd be a journalist, having to come up with this stuff for every edition. Writing the parodies is much more fun.

The strap lines should read "mummy's", not "mummies" :smartass:
