I am still planning to leave on an RTW May 22, 2022. The first 6 months in Canada and Alaska, with the next 6 months in the states. I think this will be doable....and then into Central America, 2023. Here's why I am confident that travel will open up and needs to open up....we bring dollars with us, and those dollars will be seriously required for any form of financial recovery to take place. Tourism is a HUGE part of a lot of countries income.....they need us to travel. I expect restrictions, tests, proof of vaccination etc...at least until 2023/2024 - and it may take more time to navigate thru borders and such....but its not just that we want to travel.....our $ are needed to help fund a recovery. Many arms will be willingly held out to accommodate travel at the earliest possible moment - and with attention to safety and precautions, we should be able to do this without spreading problems. The above is both conjecture and wishful thinking......Be safe.

I'm hoping that HU NFLD will be a go for this summer, but the pessimistic part of me says....hahahahahaha.
August 2020, I did a solo 8 day trip revisiting places in Ontario that I hadn't been to in years. It made me realize there are still many places in my own backyard that I haven't seen. This may sound boring to some, but I feel, with the lack of out of country tourism visiting Canada, my trip has put some dollars in a few pockets, which in the end may help keep these businesses going for next year. I had often said travelling in Ontario would be restricted to my senior years, at 63yrs of age perhaps these are my senior years and my youthful mind hasn't acknowledged that yet....lol brian |

The EU - remember them? - are putting together what is effectively a vaccine passport (see link here - https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20210301-eu-to-propose-covid-19-vaccine-passports-in-march). Once the system is in place and working I can see it rolling out across the world (except for the UK which will want a different colour cover on it).

It is funny to see, that just some not important countrys are planning or giving advantages from vaccination to natural antibody you get from having corona.
What make absolutely sence, because 30% of the population of europe already had corona. To do a additional vaccination makes no sence. It is not proven (instead of the vaccination makers) , that a vaccination gives a better imunisation compared to natural. There are no independent tests who shows that they help against the south africa derivate of covoid. PLAN YOUR TRIP. There have been a million reasons not to plan a trip before Covid, and there will be a million after too. Sure, it's pretty difficult now but not impossible. My FB news feed is full of people on trips right now. I just regret that I didn't escape the U.K before they shut the door properly. Okay, U.K sucks at the moment.. We can't leave. But that won't last past the summer (Fingers crossed). People have done RTW in the middle of World wars, famine and plagues. Before GPS and the internet too. There are far too many naysayers who are loving this excuse not to do the trip that they were probably never going to do anyway. It takes me back to the old days when people would say they couldn't afford to go RTW. But they ride a £20,000 GS that they bought with cash. |

Due to fact that a vacination doesn`t mean that don`t get a C19 mutation, you need to be prepared financially to spend money if you will suffer (in what way ever) from C19 during your travels. (Right now there isn`t science-based data available to show how the vaccines will effect the course of disease progression of vaccinated people - Israel will be the first country in the world for a blueprint for this in future!) You will definitely need a safety budget for this on top of the usual amount you holded back in the old times for an emergency flight ticket. I think in nearest future you won`t get a chance to catch a flight back to home country for medical C19 treatment as you maybe planed it before in other health cases. I am sure that travel insurances in general will exclude any protection or cost covering if you will run in healthy problems by C19. In the moment it`s impossible to forecast what kind of pushbacks we have to fight in the future by our kind of traveling but it should be clear that there will come up as many as their are countries in the world. |
I have a feeling that vaccination Immunity is better and longer lasting than any natural immunity conferred by catching the disease.
See what is happening in Manaus (?) in Brazil. If we are really unlucky then changes in the virus will evade vaccination immunity. But I think that the UK govt is planning for Booster shots in the autumn. Vaccination certificates will be required for international travel, I'm old enough to have tralled with a vaccination certificate to show that I had been immunised against Cholera, Yellow fever and Smallpox (now eradicated by vaccination). |
