Are you a horder?
Not just bike kit. Every thing. I live in a three bed room bungalow. ( no idea if it's the same name for our friend's across the pond). Have a brick garage built on the side of the house. Three shed's in the garden, plus a large wooden storage area for garden equipment. The house is full as well. To the extent that the only room that's not a mess is the bed room. Every flat surface has something on it.
Any way we have a local auction not far from me, so I've made up my mind to start making up boxes and putting it in. So far I've got the back of the car half full of kit. And the bungalow look's the same. I can see it's going to take a few trip's over the coming month to make a hole in what I have. You name it, and it look's like I've got it. John933 |
I have had to be fairly minimal as I rent my house out every couple of years to go travelling and storage is expensive so everything has to fit in the garage and loft. The largest amount of clutter I have is camping equipment and a surplus of motorcycles, we all have some weakness. :innocent:

Not a hoarder and in fact, somewhat the opposite in that I throw stuff quite readily but I do like sets of things. Just bought a 16mm wrench. Didn't need one; just was a gap that needed filling. Just take the sockets I need for my my bike? But it's a set!
Good luck with sorting-out the hoard, John. |
A thousand square feet of stored motorcycle parts is not hoarding! Im holding on to them just in case they're needed ok!:blushing:

I'm not as bad as those hoarder shows, but I'm well on my way :thumbup1:

In my mind's eye I see myself living in a chrome / glass /marble (take your pick) minimalist world optimised through a rigorous application of feng shui principles and where every speck of dust has a purpose. :rolleyes2: Either that or a country cottage with a thatched roof, an Ideal Home garden and eternal autumn sunshine. Sadly (and back in the real world) I'm surrounded by mess, clutter and neglect (or so my wife keeps telling me ). We have a four bedroomed detached house, a double garage, parking for half a dozen cars - and not enough space. But almost none of it is surplus stuff. It's bit and pieces we've bought over time and both necessary and useful when the correct circumstances arise. I could, I suppose, chuck out half of it but I'd only end up having to buy it again at some point in the future. The only exception to that principle is my wife's conviction that everything in either of the garages is just worthless scrap, but to balance things out my son sees it all as his inheritance! I suppose things could be worse; decades ago when I shared a house with two other blokes one of them started collecting stuff "for his future" - fridge, washing machine, that kind of thing. As he didn't need them at that moment they were left in their boxes in his room. Over the course of a year or so it got to the point where he had to move the boxes around jigsaw style before he could get from his bed to the door. He never did get married! Another (current) friend has a huge detached house and so much stuff that not only is the house full but he has two small industrial lock-ups full of "junk" as well. And he lives on his own. Compared to him I'm positively minimalist. |
To day is the start. I have one whole shelf empty and the back of the car half full.
John933 PS now what can I put on that shelf, may see something at the auction. |

"You got any CBR 1000fl bit's? Looking for the silver cover that fit's over the front end of the exhaust Just below your foot on the right hand side, right foot.
John933" John.....Stop! I thought you were meant to be getting rid of stuff. Not using this thread to find out whose got stuff that you can add to your burgeoning pile! But seriously, no sorry, jap multi's were never my thing. In case you didn't know Dave Silver spares is a good source of parts for older honda models at realistic prices. M |
For me it is better to own less things ,if i have to much things i feel like they own me .( i dont know if that is good English?)
So good luck with your cleaning up, and maybe new start, i think you will feel even better . Saludos |
Sad to admit that I have way too much shit. Don't know why and most off all don't know how to stop it. Impulse buying, the webshops and much more the ideas that pop into the brain and you buy stuff and never really do really bring the idea into reality.

I asked him for the bit. £125 plus VAT. So banged the old one out and sprayed it. You can only notice if you look close. Silver was never cheap for spare's. John933 |
I could fit everything I own accept my current motorcycle into the back of a Fiesta :)

Why do they sell stuff in packs? I need two wall plugs to put up a shelf. I have to buy 12. I save the 10. Next shelf and I can' t find the wall plugs for all the rest of the stuff I had left over. I buy more and then own twenty of the ***ing things. Binning the extra just seems wrong.
The wife on the other hand is only happy with a cupboard that won't close. Worried that the three supermarkets in walking distance and open 24/7 will run out of tinned whatever!! Andy |
