This year has been one to try and forget But ...Can we all remember all the people who have lost there lives just for a few minutes ............... and all the key workers that have kept us with supplies . A very special mention to all people ( nurses /doctors/ etc ) who have given there lives trying to help

Fully agree. The NHS and all the support staff have been and are still doing an amazing job

The PTSD that will emerge within the health system will be huge. Over my career I have dealt with a lot of road deaths and I can still see most of them in the recesses of my mind.

But, luckily for me I didn’t sit with these people AS they died. That is a whole different ball game.

A mate of mine sat with a young lady as she died after a car crash. He still talks about seeing the light leave her eyes - 35 yrs ago.

i did some work in a+e for along time and somethings you never forget , so i can understand ,
but for people to die ,trying to help others is terrible .

I spent time as a parent in a NICU, the pain of others is something that never goes away.

It's all very close to home. At the moment we have four family members working in the NHS front line and three others who are, by virtue of age or co-morbidities, likely to respond to Covid badly. Trying to keep them apart yet keep some family connection going has been a year long trial. So far we've had two people go down with it - one of the medics and another who works in a school.

Neither of them have been seriously ill but one of the other medics works in a hospital ward full of immunosuppressed patients. She's been having three tests a week since the spring and effectively self isolating after work to try and minimise her chances of catching it. It may not be that serious for her (young and female) but it would be a death sentence to any of her patients. Not a good year and the vaccine can't come fast enough for us. Any of this 'they're microchipping our brains and/or altering our DNA' fake news bullsh*t gets short shrift from me.

Update - she was given the Pfizer vaccine yesterday along with most of the other medical staff in her hospital. So it is on its way. Just got to stay safe until it makes it down to grass roots level.
