First Overland
I recented came across a very old and dusty copy of "First Overland" and am half way through it now. What a great story. Fair enough, with the drivers coming from Oxford and Cambridge there is a lot of Tally ho and "One needs One's specticles for establish one's...." But what a little gem and adventure.
Well worth a read. I did a search on google and there they were: First Overland - The Oxford and Cambridge First Overland Expedition, London to Singapore by Land Rover |

How would I read your post to know there is a DVD if I can't read?

Fantastic book! One the last 'tally-ho' adventures (great term, must steal it!). A great portrait of the world as it was at that time too. I remember the bit where a couple of them get a high speed off-road bus, possibly across Saudi Arabia. Fantastic, shame that kind of thing no longer exists! The Krak de Chevalier is still on my 'must do' list, essentially due to that book.
And a great example of a group of people working together, egos meshing rather than clashing etc. And as an example of blagging things out of unsuspecting manufacturers - superlative! Matt :) |
