Graham Vavangas
 

Sadly, I have been advised that an old aviation friend has lost his life in collision with a road tanker whilst riding the Road of Bones [at the age of 69 !] in Siberia. His name being the title of this post. If any HU friends are in the area or have any more information I would like to pass it on to my ex Bristow Helicopter colleagues who also worked with Graham and also to his family. Thanks.

The accident was reported in both the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror; little detail as to the circumstances of the tragic accident.

I read about that. Very tragic. Sympathy to all his family and friends. Also respect to Graham for having the balls to have a go of the Road of Bones. A massive task at any age, but 69 wow.

I rode with Graham last year from Moscow to Novosibirsk. We acted as wingmen for each other. After some unanswered messages checking on his progress I was gutted to learn of his death. He was a great rider and big personality. I attended his funeral today and learned a bit more about the devoted grandfather, father and husband. Rest in peace Graham.
