Green Peace v Nasca, Peru
 

On Friday night, after an hours long meeting, the International Executive Director of Green Peace, Kumi Naidoo's stunningly handsome face appeared just beyond the guarded gate of the tall iron fence that fronts the court house ("fiscalia" in Spanish) of the province of Nasca, Peru, and he was smiling.

Mr. Naidoo arrived in Nasca earlier for a scheduled meeting with the Nasca magistrate to resolve a Green Peace problem.

A small band of orderly protestors were becoming restless and one man and a woman yelled out for "justice" while several protesters held their hastily penned protest signs high above their heads. A single four door white pick up truck waited just outside the gate to exfiltrate Mr. Naidoo. Four armed police escorted Mr. Naidoo into the truck while the protestors closed in and two or three beat and kicked the truck. Several of the protesters jumped into the bed of the truck as it sped off down the dimly lit street.

Recently, trespassing Green Peace activists marched through and possibly damaged the protected archeology site, the Nasca Lines. Some jeered while others cheered the unfurling a big yellow sign boldly proclaiming "TIME FOR CHANGE" "GREEN PEACE" placed adjacent to one of the ancient Nasca line drawings from the distant past. This was photographed by the Green Peace activists from an aircraft and distributed to news services worldwide.

Tonight, in Nasca, a small group of activists for the conservation of the past and an activist for conservation of the future came together for a brief moment in the present and I was there.

Relevance of this thread on a bike/4 wheeled travel forum?

Chris, my post is relevant by bringing awareness to those who read this bike/4 wheel travel forum, that riding off road through restricted archeology sites might offend. And, I wanted to share an update on an issue that has been covered worldwide, not often one is on the front lines.

Thank you for the clarification that riding/driving in restricted areas like the Nazca Lines "might offend". I will also look out for "Kumi Naidoo's stunningly handsome face", although nobody's face, stunningly handsome or hideously ugly was actually visible in the photograph. Looks like I might just walk past him in the street and not even know it's him :(

Could "might offend" be substituted for "is highly illegal" and "leads to a long period of imprisonment"?

Chris click on the second photo and discover the face just to the right of what appears and indeed was the lights of the TV camera crew covering the event, almost exactly dead center of the photo.

I might add that Mr. Naidoo's smile quickly vanished once the protestors began confronting him with their signs and verbally. A spanish language newspaper here claimed eggs were thrown at him, I saw no eggs personally or in my photos of the event. But who knows maybe you can also find a thrown egg in the photo? Please advise if you do.

As far as searching for eggs goes, you've got the wrong religious festival. Today/tomorrow/yesterday depending on where you are is Christmas. Easter and eggs is in a couple of months.

Unfortunately I too will have to exfiltrate myself from this dialogue. I need to dream about searches for CIA tunnels and hot air balloons in the Sahara. Possibly UFOs too.

As for the aliens, I am a trained MUFON investigator, as is Elisa, aka rosa del desierto and we have conducted several investigations in Spain and in South America, for MUFON. we have also translated Spanish Air Force unclassified documents for MUFON and have researched the release, by the Ecuadorian Air Force under orders of the President of all UFO files.

Perhaps I will also scoop the "respected' news agencies again with the results of one of our MUFON investigations.
MUFON is the Mutual UFO Network worldwide and a respected organization.

As far as the AQIM vs CIA argument goes: Same sh!te, different ar$e.

Chris, thanks and you are most probably correct - about the CIA/AQIM being "same ar$e"

I have new found respect for your perception, and I agree.

Both are contaminating the environment with death and destruction, and I hope and pray for peace, but too many variables to discuss here.
